Amir warning to rebellious militia

Arab Times - 15 August, 2012
Author: Ahmed Al-Jarallah

The speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the occasion of the last 10 days of Ramadan has made everyone aware of their responsibilities. The speech sounded like alarm bells, warning about the dangerous repercussions of the inability of certain people, who bet on their illusions, to regain their sanity. These people think they can impose their will on the public.
The Amir’s speech was not only clear for the rebellious assembly and political blackmail militia; it was also clear for every Kuwaiti. He said political, personal or electoral interests should not be prioritized over national welfare. He attributed the problems of the country to the political malpractices of some people, asserting that these inappropriate actions have hampered the nation’s development and reform efforts.

He added these malpractices have led to feelings of uncertainty, tension and depression amongst the people of Kuwait. This happened because most of the citizens have become hostages of the desires and impulses of MPs who work for personal interests.
The 2009 National Assembly failed to carry out its tasks due to the actions of some MPs who have done nothing but to submit interpellation requests and instigate conflicts. These MPs even went to the extent of impeding the implementation of the third phase of the development plan by inciting bitter feelings. They presented draft bills to pull Kuwait away from the democratic path and its socio-economic nature. They acted as if the unconstitutional election, which led them to the Parliament, was the last election that will be held in Kuwait.

Kuwaitis are now hoping for the emancipation of its institutions and authorities. On top of the list is the liberation of the government from the dungeons of fear, the voices of disharmony and the claws of those who use deception to achieve their goals which are not beneficial to the nation and its people.
The silent majority in Kuwait paid a huge and painful price for the conflicts instigated by the rebellious Assembly. However, the people of Kuwait have learned valuable lessons from their painful experiences in the past, so they will no longer allow the political blackmail militia to hold them hostage. We often wonder why those who are supposed to fortify the local arena and strengthen national unity continue to drag the country into chaos and conflicts during this sensitive and dangerous phase in the history of the country.

The Amir has asked everyone to be aware of what is going on around them, particularly the recent developments in the region. He urged the people of Kuwait to arm themselves by strengthening national unity in order to confront those who have been spreading animosity which threatens the social fabric. Kuwaitis should avoid falling victims to crisis-provokers who have been trying to weaken public will.
The Amir feels the pain of the people; so he is determined to rectify the errors committed by those who think that their wicked deeds are righteous. The problems of the country had been blown out of proportion due to the recklessness and stubbornness of some people.

At the moment, the people of Kuwait are waiting for the Amir to issue emergency decrees to put everything in the right perspective, especially those related to the economic and supplementary laws that the country needs to ensure the successful implementation of its development plans. Concrete steps must be taken immediately to rescue the country, so that we don’t die from drought while we carry water on our backs.
