US imam hails Qatar's interfaith dialogue

He was invited to Qatar to share his experiences as an American Muslim and to meet with members of the multicultural community here.Imam Turk expressed his pleasure at the commitment of HH the Emir Shiekh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani to supporting interfaith dialogue.He said: “It has been my pleasure to visit Qatar during this holy month.

Qatar has played a key role in supporting interfaith dialogue to create a just and peaceful future.” US Ambassador Susan Ziadeh, who hosted several Iftars for the media and interfaith religious communities, commented: “Imam Turk’s visit was an important opportunity to highlight the lives of Muslims in America, and celebrate the spirit of tolerance and compassion that characterises the holy month of Ramadan.”

During his visit, Imam Turk met with numerous Qatari government officials, as well as academic, NGOs and interfaith institutions. He met with the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs HE Ghaith bin Mubarak bin Imran al-Kuwari, president of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani University, Abdulla al-Thani, and chairman of the Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue, Ibrahim Naimi. Imam Turk also addressed worshippers at Abo Bakr Al Siddique and Fanar mosques.
