U.S. calls on Yemeni parties to end violence immediately

Yemen News Agency - 15 August, 2012

The U.S. has called on all parties in Yemen to show restraint and put an immediate end to violence and to respect the decisions and reforms implemented by President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

This came in the words of spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of State ,Vactoria Noland, at a press conference held Tuesday in Washington.

She noted that the U.S. followed with concern the clashes, which took place on Tuesday near the Yemeni Ministry of Defense.

She said: "I will not talk about the motives of some of these men who have been violent .. but it is clear that some of those who lost their interests that they had in the past try to get some gains and resist this edmocratic change achieved byPresident Hadi."

She indicated that those who try to impede the transition process will fail because they are standing on the wrong side of history.

The U.S. official confirmed that the U.S. will continue its support for the new phase in Yemen and the efforts of President Hadi in order to translate all the steps of the transition on the ground.
