Largest Ramadan fair opens in Dubai

Gulf Today - 12 August, 2012

The much-awaited consumer fair, Ramadan Night Market opened its doors to public on Friday at Dubai World Trade Center.

Ramadan Night Market is poised to become shopper’s paradise with wide product range, wonderful ambience and excellent bargains.

Featuring a good mix of big to medium sized retailers, the event witnesses more than 100 exhibitors participating and offering products ranging from apparel, gifting, electronics, perfumes, cosmetics, jewellery, household items etc.

The market was formally inaugurated by Abdulrahman Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry in the presence of senior executives from DWTC, management of Sumansa Exhibitions, the organisers of the event and esteemed guests from the media fraternity.

Running until Aug.19, the 10-day shopping fiesta will be on from 8:00 pm till 3.00 am every day during Ramadan and from 5.00 pm to 12.00 midnight during Eid.

Shoppers eager to find something a little different for their loved ones this Eid Al Fitr will be able to sample the goods on sale at the market. .

Expecting a visitor footfall of about 20,000 over 10 days, some of the leading exhibitors to be seen at the event include Lootah perfumes, Panasonic, Hams Al Sharq, Lifestyle fine Jewellery, Kani home etc.

“It gives me immense pleasure to launch Ramadan Night Market and been able to connect consumers and retailers through this unique platform.

It’s going to be a hustling, busting place and certainly will provide a different shopping experience than going to a mall,” said Sunil Jaiswal, Chief Executive Officer of Sumansa Exhibitions, organisers of Ramadan Night Market.

He also said: “The launch of the market comes as retail spending in the UAE is on the increase, with retailers reporting sales growth this year up 15 per cent from a year earlier on the strength of a buoyant market.

For our 1st edition it is a good start as we have exhibitors occupying 3000 sq mts. of space and an excellent mix from big retail brands to smaller traders and from across Middle east and Asian Continent.”

“This edition is a stepping stone for us and we will raise the bar with each edition in future. With robust demand, highest consumer confidence in UAE and high spending during Ramadan and Eid, retailers are bound to witness huge splur in sales at the market.

The market is also expected to serve as a launch pad for new products as shopping and spending during Ramadan and Eid increases”, Sunil Jaiswal added.

Ramadan Night Market to offer residents and tourists a great opportunity to shop for all their festival needs under one roof.
