Omani Women's Ramadan Festival to open today

Oman Tribune - 09 August, 2012

The second edition of the Omani Women’s Ramadan Festival will be inaugurated at Al Qurum City Centre on Thursday.

More than 45 Omani women will participate in the event, which is supported by the Directorate-General for Development of Small and Medium Enterprises, represented by the Entrepreneurship Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

It will include exhibition of local products such as incense, perfumes, clothes and products for women and special gifts for children.

The festival supports low-income families and encourages self-reliance among them through projects undertaken at their homes, said Kawakib Al Safrawiyah. The festival will give them a platform to showcase their products, explore new ways to market and promote creativity among women, she said.

Al Safrawiyah said the festival seeks to engage community members in social activities and services provided by the ministry as part of social responsibility and social cooperation.
