The Fujairah Department of Residency and Foreigners Affairs has warned residents and firms against employing illegal residents anywhere in the emirate.

Director-General of the department Brigadier Mubarak Rabee bin Sinan said the campaign launched by the Interior Ministry is aimed at creating public awareness about the dangers posed by illegal residents and infiltration into the country.

Bin Sinan said illegal residents and those who employ them would be punished strictly for violating the country’s laws. The department has chalked out a yearlong plan to track down the violators. Officials in plainclothes have been assigned to monitor people who stay illegally in the country, he added.

Last week, a nation-wide crackdown was launched to catch illegal residents and infiltrators and create awareness about infiltration under the slogan ‘No to Violators’.

The campaign, organised by the Directorate of Follow-Up of Violators and Foreigners Affairs, set up by the Ministry of Interior, aims to encourage citizens and legal residents to help the authorities track down infiltrators. The ministry has rounded up 457 violators since the launch of the campaign.
