His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has said some youth who have been detained for ties with opposition groups and for plans to start a political movement would be treated well and that before Eid, all issues would be resolved.

He was speaking to Sharjah TV and Radio on Thursday.

Some of the men were held at border checkposts as they tried to sneak into other countries while others were whisked away from airports.

He called on the parents, wives and families of the detainees to be patient and not to worry about the men, as the government is trying to guide them and turn them into good citizens after they tried to establish political groups to cause trouble in the country.

“If the country takes action against its citizen, who intends to create instability, it is one of its duties for the benefit of the country as well as theirs,” he said.

“They are our sons; we are teaching them in jail to be good citizens and also, we would pray for them during this holy month to follow the right path and the true religion and we also pray to God to forgive us if we make mistake. We tell them ‘this is your country, do not lose it, but work hard for its development and stability’.”

He said this unity of the country was established in a very short time and it has had consecutive and rapid developments which are still continuing.

The country provides the youth with a high level of education in schools and universities and all facilities for them to get education to become future leaders in all sectors and fields.

The Ruler stressed that before Eid, all these issues would be resolved and the situation would improve.
Support for patient

Shaikh Sultan also ordered shifting of a patient on life-support machines from a private hospital in Dubai to the University Hospital in Sharjah until a house provided with all medical devices he needs is arranged. He also issued a directive that he will personally bear the patient’s all expenses at the private hospital, which comes to Dh500,000.

He was replying to a complaint by Sharjah resident Fatima Hassan who said her brother is suffering from multiple diseases that forced him to completely depend on the medical equipment.

“We had a patient whose case was similar to this. He was admitted to the University Hospital in Sharjah, where he was put under observation and was well looked after until a place supplied with all medical equipment he needs was arranged,” Shaikh Sultan recalled.

“In the case of this patient, life-supporting machines cannot be removed from him, otherwise he would die.

“Though the complainant is a non-Emirati, we will arrange a suitable place for the patient, who will be moved from the private hospital to the University Hospital , where he will remain until a suitable place is arranged for him to be shifted to.”

During the holy month, the Ruler has also made phone calls to UAE national patients who have travelled abroad for medical treatment to check their conditions and pray for their good health.
