Cabinet approves amendments to Labour Law

The weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani has approved a draft law amending some provisions of the Labour Law promulgated by Law No. 14 of 2004.

It also approved a draft decision on defining fees for certain services provided by the Ministry of Labour.

The meeting also approved a draft law amending some provisions of Decree-Law No. 21 of 2006 on the private institutions of public interest.

The Cabinet welcomed the invitation by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud of Saudi Arabia for the Islamic Extraordinary Summit to be held in Makkah Al Mukkaramah on Ramadan 26 and 27. The Cabinet expressed hope and aspiration that the summit would achieve success.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal to amend certain provisions of Emiri Decree No. 19 of 2011 regarding the setting up of the Standing Committee of Water Resources.
A proposal by the Ministry of Justice to amend certain law provisions promulgated by Law No. 23 of 2006was also approved.

The meeting also approved the following:

1 - A draft agreement in the fight against crime between the governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

2 - A draft agreement for co-operation in the regulation of the authorities of the border between the governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

3 - Approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on energy co-operation between Qatar’s Ministry of Energy and Industry and the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine.

4 - A draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for co-operation in the field of environmental protection between Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Water Management in Albania.

5 - A draft of the Third Executive Programme in the field of public education for cultural and educational agreement between the governments of Qatar and the UAE for the academic years 2012/2013, 2013/2014, 2014/2015.

The Cabinet reviewed the following topics and took appropriate decisions:

1 - Letter by the Minister of Economy and Finance on the application of item 5 of Article 6 of Law No. 24 of 2002 on retirement and pensions for workers Qataris at the Qatar Financial Centre.

2 - Letter by the Minister of Business and Commerce on the results of the 13th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD ) held in Doha in April 2012.

3 - Letter by the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning on the outcome of the 7th Municipal work conference, held in Manama in April 2012.
