Heir Apparent reaffirms Qatar's support to Libya

HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Mustafa Abdul Jalil, Chairman of the National Transitional Council (NTC), held a session of talks in Rixos hotel in Tripoli yesterday.

At the outset of the session, the Heir Apparent congratulated the NTC chairman on the success of the recent legislatives elections.

Talks dealt with bilateral relations, the latest developments in Libya besides a number of issues of mutual concern.

The Heir Apparent also met a number of Libyan political parties’ leaders.

He congratulated the Libyan politicians on the success of the legislative election, stressing that it represents an important step on the way of realising the Libyan people’s aspirations. He confirmed that Qatar supports the outcome of the elections which embodied the choice of the Libyans.

Sheikh Tamim reiterated Qatar’s support to the Libyan people and the political powers that reflect its objectives, explaining that Qatar stands with all parties in Libya.

He also reiterated Qatar’s support to the political process in Libya, stressing that Qatar will remain faithful to its fraternity and solidarity.

He reaffirmed Qatar’s support to the Libyan people in establishing a state of institutions and law, that will ensure security, safety and decent living for all Libyans.

The Heir Apparent wished success for the Libyan politicians and people and for further progress for the relations between the two countries.

Earlier, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met Libya’s Interim Prime Minister Abdel Raheem al-Kib.

During the meeting, they reviewed relations between the two countries and discussed the latest developments in Libya as well as the situation in the region.

He also met Libya’s Grand Mufti Sheikh al-Ghariani at the House of Fatwa, or Dar al-Ifta, in Tripoli.

Earlier on arrival in Tripoli the Heir Apparent was received by Mustafa Abdul Jalil, several ministers, Sheikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Jassim al-Thani, Qatar’s Ambassador to Libya, the Arab ambassadors accredited to Libya and members of the Qatari embassy.

The Heir Apparent expressed pleasure at visiting Libya and conveyed the greetings of HH the EmirSheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and the Qatari people to Mustafa Abdul Jalil and the Libyan people wishing Libya further progress and prosperity.

In the evening, the Heir Apparent left Tripoli wrapping up a one-day official visit to Libya.

The Heir Apparent and his accompanying delegation were seen off at the airport by a number of senior Libyan officials as well as Qatar’s ambassador to Libya and the staff of the Qatari embassy.

The Heir Apparent sent cables of thanks to the chairman of the Libyan National Transitional Council, Mustafa Abdel Jalil and to Prime Minister Abdel Raheem al-Kib expressing his appreciation of the hospitality accorded to him during the visit.
