According to a survey conducted by the Dubai Police, 99 per cent of the residents feel that the risk of crime is low in the emirate.

It also showed that 98.6 per cent of the people thought the standard of police protection in Dubai is very high.

Lieutenant-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, announced the results of the survey, conducted by the Coordinating Committee of Research Centres and the Decision Making Support Centre at the UAE Ministry of Interior, on Wednesday.

The survey also revealed that 96 per cent feel safe while taking taxis at night and 90 per cent of the men feel safe walking the streets at night.

Regarding the police presence, 98 per cent said they could see the effort exerted by the police to prevent crime, while 98.6 said police patrols in the emirate are enough.

Asked about the behaviour of police personnel, 91.1 per cent said they are understanding, 86.9 said they are polite, 85.5 said there is no bias, 84.8 believe that the police are efficient and 77.3 said they are alert.

Lt-Gen Dhahi Khalfan said during a press conference that the Dubai Police are keen to provide permanent security and safety in the emirate through the latest methods and techniques that are compatible with international standards used to achieve excellence in all areas.
