Ayman bin Abdullah al Hassani, Deputy Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), yesterday met with the Turkish Parliament delegation led by Bulent Gedikli, Deputy President of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and member of the parliament, currently visiting the Sultanate. The two sides discussed areas of economic co-operation and means of enhancing trade and investment relations between representatives of the private sector, in addition to reviewing the investment climate and opportunities in the two countries.

Al Hassani said the Omani-Turkish relations witnessed a remarkable growth during the recent period, making a number of Turkish companies operate in the Sultanate's market particularly in the construction sector, as well as the presence of some Omani projects in Turkey. However, the overall level of Omani-Turkish trade partnership has not yet reached the level of ambition, which requires double action and unified efforts among respective establishments involved in economic domain in both sides in a bid to facilitate co-operation in various sectors including infrastructure, industry, tourism, health, agriculture and food production.

Bulent Gedikli hoped that this and coming visits to the Sultanate would add to mutual efforts between Omani and Turkish officials in supporting economic development through activating the role of the private sector in particular as it enjoys considerable interest and support from the leaderships of the two countries. He pointed out to the economic and investment potentials and opportunities available in Turkey in various sectors.

He also invited businessmen and women in the Sultanate to visit Turkey and take advantage of these opportunities as his country enjoys a period of stability and economic prosperity despite the financial crisis in neighbouring European countries, which opens wider avenues for joint economic action. The meeting was attended by a number of members of OCCI Board and Omani Businessmen.
