The Ras Al Khaimah Naturalisation and Residency Court has ordered deportation of 30 infiltrators and illegal residents.

The court, presided over by Judge Ahmed Al Amir, also ordered them to pay fines of Dh10,000 to Dh24,000 for violating the immigration and residency rules and regulations.

According to a Ras Al Khaimah Police source, the 30 illegals were detained recently as part of intensive raids against illegals’ hideouts across the country. “We had received several absconding reports and complaints from sponsors and companies in recent days. The RAK Police, in a positive response, chased and arrested them,” the source said.

Court records showed that some of them had absconded from their sponsors and worked with other employers, some had stayed in the country despite the expiry of their visit visas and some others had infiltrated into the UAE while a few of them returned to the country on forged passports despite being deported earlier due to violations and crimes.

The Foreigners and Illegals Follow-Up section in Ras Al Khaimah recently carried out 13 raids across the emirate in collaboration with the Labour Office. The raids resulted in detaining 40 Asian and African illegals, who included 21 female and 19 male absconders.

Earlier in April this year, the RAK Naturalisation and Residency Court ordered the deportation of three Asian workers and slapped them with a fine of Dh10,000 each for infiltrating into the country.

The same court ordered deportation of other workers of different nationalities for breaking residency laws, illegally staying in the country despite the expiry of their residence visas, and working with employers other than their sponsors.

Meanwhile, the RAK Courts started hearing 32 labour complaints, mostly about pending salaries and overdue entitlements, after the labour department failed to amicably settle the litigation between the workers and their employers.
