Bahrain Cabinet backs national airlines

Gulf Daily News - 09 July, 2012

HIS Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday asked the Transportation Ministry to support Bahrain's airlines in executing their plans and operations to boost their competitiveness regionally and internationally.

HRH the Premier who chaired the weekly Cabinet session instructed the Transportation and Finance ministries and the Civil Service Bureau to conduct a study to assess Bahrain's human resource requirements to ensure aviation safety.

He also ordered the Health Ministry to step up inspection of food and drinks and take action against any violations, following complaints over a brand of bottled water.

HRH the Premier reviewed an action plan to tackle problems connected to sickle cell disease and asked Health Minister Sadik Al Shehabi to present a report on measures to reduce the extent of the illness and improve care for sufferers.

The Cabinet approved a draft law ratifying an agreement with India on taxation information exchange and a parliamentary proposal to set up a government services centre in Hamad Town.

A draft resolution to set up a high human rights panel and a feasibility study to use public land in Manama for housing were also discussed.
