The Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), in association with Indian Medical Association (Qatar chapter) and Aster Medical Group, organised the 11th medical camp for low income workers at Aster Medical Centre (Al Khor) recently.

Besides free medical consultation, the organisers also donated free medicines to more than 300 individuals of different nationalities, staying in nine different labour camps around the Al Khor Industrial area.

Among the patients treated at the camp included 10 Nepalese, Sri Lankans (11), Bangladeshis (10), and Indians. Pre-registration of the workers was done in the previous two weeks through visits made by ICBF officials to the camps. However on the spot registration was also done for those who directly visited the camp.

A team of 12 doctors, 16 paramedical staffers from IMA and Aster, five pharmacists from Care & Cure group and around 50 ICBF volunteers rendered service at the camp.

Consultations were given in dermatology and other ailments like hypertension and diabetes. Arrangements were also made to check the cholesterol levels.
About 50% of the patients were found to be either hypertensive, diabetic or having high cholesterol, and necessary treatment was given.

Mohamed Ali al-Jusaiman, CEO, Hamad Medical Coporation, Al Khor inaugurated the camp in the presence of Indian embassy second secretary Anil Nautiyal and chairman of Seashore Group Syed Salim Mubarak al-Mohannadi.

Managing director of the Aster Medical Group (Qatar) Dr Sameer Moopen, president of the IMA (Qatar) Dr K P Najeeb, managing director of Seashore Group E M Mohamed Ali and ICBF president Kareem Abdullah were present.
Care and Cure pharmacy services, Telugu Kala Samiti and Family Food Centre supported the event.
