As many as 1,653 Pakistani families in Qatar are beneficiaries of the financial aid from the Zakat Fund of Qatar.

This was disclosed by the fund’s deputy director, Mohamed Yaqub al-Ali at the meeting he had in his office with Pakistan Ambassador to Qatar, Mohamed Sarfaraz Ahmed Khanzada, a report in the local Arabic daily Arrayah said.

The payments are made in different categories according to the merits of each case.

Students are being paid on a regular monthly basis as educational stipend while some others receive it either as one-time payment or on special occasions.

Expressing his gratitude and appreciation for the noble work done by the Zakat Fund, the ambassador said providing financial support to needy students is a commendable effort.

As much as QR23mn has been allocated for student stipends in the fund’s budget for the current year and 3,627 male and female students in Qatar are benefiting from it.

“This is being paid for the past 17 years for all levels of students without any discrimination or special preference” said Mohamed Yaquob al-Ali.
