Iran-Bolivia cooperation benefits independent nations: Ahmadinejad

Tehran Times - 21 June, 2012

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that Tehran-La Paz cooperation is not only in favor of the two countries but also benefits independent countries across the world.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks during a ceremony in Bolivia on Tuesday, in which the two countries' officials signed several cooperation agreements.

He said that Tehran and La Paz are determined to take major steps on their path to prosperity and to provide their people with justice and freedom, however 'today, those who have lost the opportunity to colonize other countries,' are opposed to the progress of independent countries like Iran and Bolivia.

He went on to say that the two countries have great potential and can achieve progress and prosperity with reliance upon their human and financial resources.

Despite the long geographical distance between Iran and Bolivia, there is no distance between freedom-seeking beliefs of the two nations, Ahmadinejad stated.

During the ceremony, Bolivian President Evo Morales expressed satisfaction with Ahmadinejad's trip to his country and said that the Bolivian nation and government have complete confidence in the Islamic Republic of Iran in various areas.

The two countries can cooperate with each other in their campaigns against imperialism, he added.

According to AFP, Ahmadinejad arrived at 11:20 am local time (1520 GMT) at the El Alto airport in La Paz, where he was greeted by Morales, and the two leaders immediately departed for the Quemado presidential palace.

On Wednesday, Ahmadinejad arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in order to participate in the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), aka the Earth Summit, which opened on June 20 and closes on June 22.

After the Earth Summit, Ahmadinejad plans to meet with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in Caracas and hold talks on various issues, including bilatera
