Our Flag Will Remain High
Kuwait Times - 20 June, 2012 Author: Abdullah Abbas Bowair
It was so saddening how some MPs have, as usual, been irresponsibly acting and making irresponsible statements starting with endless unjustified grilling motions all the way to attacking Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed's residence, the National Assembly building, slandering the descendants of Sheikh Ahmed Al-Jaber and, finally, insulting Kuwait's national flag and anthem by refusing to stand up while it is played. We warn those tension creators……all acceptable except for Kuwait.
On this occasion, I do beg HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed, may Allah bestow his care on him, to put an end to such sickening behavior. Those MPs who refused to stand up when the national anthem was played do stand up when other countries anthems are played. Those legislatives who had been elected by the people are the ones violating the law and despise the state’s flag by describing it as a ‘insignificant piece of cloth’.
A special rally was organized at the Determination Yard with participants from various national and public powers and families to express protest against insulting Kuwait’s flag by an irresponsible MP. Such acts are unacceptable to sane people who all demanded holding the two MPs accountable.
The fifth article of Kuwait’s Constitution emphasizes full respect to the state’s flag and that’s why people demonstrated in the yard despite MPs’ attempts to foil their activity through having their secretaries spread rumors that the rally had been cancelled or postponed.
The Determination Yard was victorious and our flag will always remain high-hoisted in full pride as a symbol of Kuwait with the national anthem played in the background.
Since Almighty Allah said: “And warn, for warning profiteth believers”. (Verse 55, Al-Dhariyat), let’s dear readers, go back in memory to the days when we were school kids and used to stand firmly to salute the flag and sing the national anthem:
Kuwait, my country, may you be safe and glorious!
May you always enjoy good fortune!
You are the cradle of my ancestors,
Who put down its memory.
With everlasting symmetry, showing all eternity,
Those Arabs were heavenly,
Kuwait, my country,
May you be safe and glorious!
May you always enjoy good fortune.
Blessed be my Country a homeland for harmony,
Warded by true sentry giving their soils aptly,
Building high its history, Kuwait,
My country, we’re for you my Country,
Led by faith and loyalty,
With its Amir equally,
Fencing us all fairly, with warm love and verity,
Kuwait, my country,
May you be safe and glorious.
May you always enjoy good fortune!
