Iraqi court resumes trial of VP Al-Hashemi

Kuwait News Agency - 19 June, 2012

The Iraqi Higher Criminal Court resumed here the trial of Vice-President Tareq Al-Hashemi on charges of running terrorist gangs.

In Tuesday's session, the court continued to hear the testimonies on the case, with a witness revealing the discovery of arms at Al-Hashemi's residence during recent security inspections.

Al-Hashemi's defense team resumed its participation in the proceedings after boycutting the previous session due the judges rebuffed of a request by the lawyers demanding the testimonies of five senior officials including President Jalal Talabani.
