Bakri holds talks with ALO official in Geneva

Oman Tribune - 12 June, 2012

Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Bakri, Manpower Minister, met Dr Ahmed Mohammed Luqman, Director-General of the Arab Labour Organisation (ALO), on the sidelines of meetings of the 101st session of the World Labour Conference currently being held in Geneva.

The meeting reviewed cooperation and coordination between the Sultanate and ALO in the field of work and development of manpower. It also revised the Sultanate’s efforts in social dialogue among the three production stakeholders, besides the Sultanate’s contribution and its role in supporting Arab efforts on various issues concerning the labour sector, technical education and vocational training.

The Sultanate is taking part in meetings of the conference for the third consecutive week by a delegation led by Bakri and members and representatives of the production parties, represented by some employers headed by HE Khalil Bin Abdullah Al Khonji, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), and Saud Bin Ali Al Jabri, Chairman of the Trade Union of the Sultanate.

The meeting was attended by HE Yahya Bin Salim Al Wahaibi, the Sultanate’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva and other international organisations and the delegation accompanying Bakri.

Bakri along with the GCC manpower ministers also met Guy Ryder, new Director-General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO). They discussed on boosting human resources, reviewed cooperation and coordination between the GCC countries and ILO.
