9,000 visit MES science exhibition
The Peninsula - 09 June, 2012 MES Indian School Science and Technology Exhibition attracted more than 9,000 visitors over two days. The exhibition featured a number of famous organisations and companies of Qatar including Kahraama, Doha Industrial Safety Services, Qatar Scientific Club, Meteorology Department and Institute of Engineers, besides the working models, projects, reflected experiments and charts of the young scientists of the school.
Anil Nautiyal, Second Secretary, (Labour) and HOC, Embassy of India, formally inaugurated the Science Expo, at the Girls’ Section. A Shamsuddeen, General Secretary; A T Usman, Treasurer; A P Khaleel, Director, Cultural/Co-Curricular Activities; other members of the School Governing Body, Aleyamma Mathew, Principal (Acting), M I Mathew, Manager, Admin & HR, Vice Principals, Head of Sections, teachers, parents and students were also present on the occasion.
The valedictory function was held in the Open Air Auditorium of the Girls’ Section of the school. Ahmed Abdullah Al Abdullah, Deputy CEO, Barwa Group, was the chief guest on the occasion. K P Abdul Hameed, Former President of MES Governing Body was the guest of honour. A Shamsuddeen, General Secretary, felicitated the young scientists. “The high quality of the exhibits on display reiterates the enthusiasm, imagination, sense of responsibility and scientific spirit of our students and teachers”, he said.
Around 600 students from classes VI to XII (Boys, Girls, CBSE-i) enthusiastically participated in the Science Fair exhibiting their scientific temper. Apart from the yester years the teachers of various departments also took part in the fair with keen interest inspiring the young scientists. The exhibits of the students and teachers were adjudged by panel of experts and were awarded with certificates, trophies and cash awards at the Valedictory Function.
Reflecting on the success of the exhibition, Aleyamma Mathew, Officiating Principal said, that the Science and Techno Exhibition was a tremendous success. “Thousands of the budding talents of our school could exhibit their hidden talents and potential for their all-round development”, she added. |
