Pure Gold sales jump 25%
at Abu Dhabi Duty Free

Khaleej Times - 20 August, 2012

Pure Gold Jewellers recorded an increase of 25 per cent sales at its Abu Dhabi Duty Free operations in the first half of this year compared to the corresponding period in 2011.

Pure Gold Jewellers is the exclusive sole concessionaire for jewellery at Terminals 1, 2 and 3 at Abu Dhabi International Airport in agreement with Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) and offers a wide range of gold, diamonds, pearls and color stones jewellery.

According to Karim Merchant, CEO & MD of Pure Gold Jewellers, “We have seen strong year-on-year growth for our Abu Dhabi Duty Free operations since we started operating exclusively at the Duty Free in 2008. This year we have witnessed a substantial 25 per cent increase in the first half compared to last year. With the increase in frequency of flights operating out of and into Abu Dhabi to and from increased destinations and in step with Abu Dhabi’s growth as a tourist attraction, we are confident of increased opportunities for our business in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Airports Company.”

According to recent ADAC figures, Abu Dhabi International Airport welcomed over seven million passengers during the first half of 2012, a significant increase of 22.8 per cent compared to the same period in 2011; this is the highest volume of passenger traffic recorded by the airport. There are currently 53 airlines operating through Abu Dhabi International Airport. “We are committed to growing our travel retail business in the GCC through strong partnerships with Duty Frees’ in this market,” said Merchant.
