Pakistani innovator's 'Water Fuel Kit' all set for demo in capital

Gulf Today - 03 August, 2012

A Pakistani innovator, Waqar Ahmed, who recently demonstrated a unique fuel kit that converts water into energy to a group of parliamentarians in his home country, has been in the limelight in the Pakistani press, as also the international media.

Subsequent to a meeting the Pakistani ambassador in the UAE had with the director-general of International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena), a demonstration of the engineer’s invention that converts water into hydrogen energy, which could be used as fuel to run vehicles, has been scheduled in collaboration with Irena in Abu Dhabi.

In line with global efforts to push for renewable energy sources, Pakistan’s ambassador to the UAE, Jamil Ahmed Khan, and Adnan Z. Amin, director-general of Irena, on Wednesday agreed to hold a demonstration of the fuel kit invented by the Pakistani engineer.

Hailing from the southern province of Pakistan, engineer Waqar Ahmad, last Thursday, drove his car, using water as fuel during a demonstration for parliamentarians, scientists and students in Islamabad, leaving the onlookers astounded. Media reports have explained that the water-to-fuel system employs technology in which ‘hydrogen bonding’ with distilled water produces hydrogen gas to run the car.

Taking stock of this unique invention, which has a huge potential to forever change the dynamics of global energy consumption, Pakistan’s top envoy exchanged notes with the Irena director-general, before agreeing to join hands in holding a demonstration facilitating a closer look at the working of the so-called ‘Water Fuel Kit Project’.

Ambassador Khan has also asked Pakistan’s Ministry of Science and Technology to send official endorsement in support of the invention to assist in the efforts to globally market this indigenously-developed and eco-friendly water-fuel kit.

In his remarks ambassador Khan said, “The invention by the Pakistani engineer holds enormous potential considering that, if it is also certified by Irena after the upcoming demo, it can dramatically change the global dependence on fossil fuels that pollute the environment.”

He applauded Irena’s director-general for agreeing to hold the demo prior to certifying the authenticity of the invention, a move that would expose the technology to a broader consumer base through collaborative business ventures.

Envoy Khan also spoke with engineer Waqar over telephone and lauded his ingenuity that led to the invention of the environmentally sustainable water-kit technology that powers automobiles. He also invited the inventor to Abu Dhabi on a sponsored visit in recognition of his ground-breaking discovery.
