OCCI to hold Gulf partnership forum in Dhofar on Aug 29, 30

Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) will organise the Gulf Forum for Partnership and Investment on August 29, 30 in the Governorate of Dhofar. The forum is organised in collaboration with the Federation of the GCC Chambers (FGCCC) and Seerabeece for Exhibition and International Festivals. Officials, businessmen, businesswomen, experts, academics and economic researches from the GCC countries and from the world will take part in this forum.

Khalil bin Abdullah al Khonji, Chairman of OCCI, and Head of the Organising Committee for the Forum said that the forum comes within the framework of enhancing the role of the FGCCC in promoting investment opportunities in the Gulf countries. He added that the forum’s sessions will cover three main themes. The first session will cover partnership and investment in industry sector and will include three working papers. The second session will discuss partnership and investment in tourism sector and will include three working papers.

The third session “Investment in Dhofar, Infinite Diversity,” will cover investment opportunities in agriculture, fisheries, safe real estate, sources of finance and the role of ports in the economic boom. “The forum is very important in activating co-operation among Gulf investors and enhancing communication among public and private sectors,” Al Khonji added.

Meanwhile, OCCI will today host Ahmed bin Abdullah al Shuhi, Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources as part of Ramadhan evenings organised by OCCI during Ramadhan. The evening will discuss the development and rehabilitation of industrial estates outside the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), the private sector investments in the municipal and beautification projects and the complementary relationship expected between the municipal councils and the private sector under the decentralisation of the governorates.

It will also address services provided by the industrial estates in the governorates to the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the impact of interventions of the Regional Municipalities and Water Resources Ministry in industrial estates, as well as highlighting water map and water resources management strategy in the Sultanate, dam projects and their importance to the agricultural sector in the Sultanate, as well as investment in agriculture and its association with water storage.
