MSM down at 5,496   

Oman Daily Observer - 11 July, 2012

Muscat Securities Market (MSM) general index 30 yesterday lost more than 37 points, constituting a decline by 0.68 per cent to close at 5,496 points. The financial sector declined by 1.05 per cent to close at 6,044 points compared to 6,108 points in earlier session, followed by the services sector, which fell by 0.48 per cent to close at 2,586 points compared to Monday’s close of 2,598 points. The industrial sector also declined by 0.35 per cent to close at 6,593 points compared to 6,616 points in earlier session.

The trading value stood at RO 1.7 million, comprising a decline by 21.42 per cent compared to previous session which stood at RO 2.2 million. The market value declined by 0.44 per cent to reach about RO 11 billion. MSM report pointed out that the value of shares bought by non-Omani investors reached RO 288,000, comprising 17.02 per cent. The value of shares sold by non-Omani investors reached RO 260,000 comprising 15.37 per cent. The net non-Omani investment rose by 1.65 per cent to RO 28,000. Out of the 43 companies of which shares changed hands yesterday, 6 companies rose, 30 declined and 7 companies remained unchanged.
