Minister extols bill supporting SMEs

Kuwait News Agency - 11 May, 2012

Minister of Information Sheikh Muhammad al-Abdullah al-Sabah praised on Thursday efforts of the government and the parliament in bringing to light a new bill for the formation of a national fund for support of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

In a press statement following a parliamentary session today, which passed the new bill, the minister said the latter would contribute to the diversification of the national economy and increase the potential for the success of young entrepreneurs with workable business ideas.

He said the new bill got unanimous endorsement by the MPs and wished that the government would speed up its implementation.

With regard to the recent display of discord and rancor in the parliament on the part of MPs and their use of abusive language and the exchange of epithets, the minister expressed his dismay at such conduct and said it behooved the MPs to behave in accordance with the by-laws set by the parliament.
