Saudi nurse killed by Syrian army in Dara'a

Saudi Gazette - 28 July, 2012

A Saudi male nurse was killed Wednesday by the Syrian army while providing humanitarian aid and services to the oppressed people in Dara’a. The victim’s family said Ibrahim Al-Bekhaitan, 35, traveled to turbulent regions like Afghanistan and Pakistan to provide humanitarian services to people.

He was arrested in Pakistan and released shortly to head off to Iraq in 2004. It is from Iraq he entered Syria five months ago, his family said.
The family received relatives and the general public at their home in the Northern Frontier Region, where Al-Bekhaitan used to work as a nurse for the Health Affairs Directorate there.

The victim’s brother told Al-Hayat Arabic daily that Ibrahim traveled to Syria to help the oppressed people in Dara’a Governorate and died a martyr Wednesday while performing his duty as a nurse.

“We’re proud of him. People come to congratulate us on his death because he died while on duty.”
