Who needs China and Russia?

Saudi Gazette - 16 July, 2012

The Arab League has been extremely passive to the escalating violence in Syria and unable to come out with a firm resolution. The game playing of soft finger pointing must come to an end and we must get to the root of the problem.

Some countries have expelled Syrian diplomats and cut other ties punishing both the regime and the opposition. But has anyone asked the Russian and Chinese diplomats to pack and leave? What are we afraid of? I don’t belong here but I feel for the Syrians and the Arabs in any case. Why are we so fearful of the Russians and the Chinese? Maybe the Arab world has not been able to see that they need more of its oil and commerce.

I have been in the region for three years and sick of people blaming the West for anything that happens here. Please grab a map and check where the West is and assume part of the blame in the Syrian bloodshed for your ineptitude, lack of action and complacency.
