U.S. discuss cooperation in information field
Kuwait News Agency - 08 September, 2012 Yemen and the U.S. have discussed strengthening the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the information field.
This came during meetings of Information Minister Ali Ahmed al-Imrani in Washington on Thursday with a number of the U.S. officials at the White House and the Department of State.
The Information Minister met in the Eisenhower Executive Building Office at the White House in Washington with Special Assistant to the U.S. President Boniet Bellwar.
At the meeting, the two sides dealt with the aspects of support that could be provided by the U.S. to the Yemeni information institutions.
On another hand, al-Imrani met separatly ,at the U.S. Department of State, with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the GCC countries ,the ambassador Stephen Seche, and Assistant Secretary of State for Media Affairs and Public Relations, Mike Hammer.
The two meetings touched on the technical support that could be presented by the U.S. to the institutions of the Information Ministry, especially in the fields of training and experiences exchange as well as helping the government to promote the professional level of the Yemeni information institutions.
For his part, the ambassador Seche said that the United States strongly supports the democratic transition and the ongoing transitional phase in Yemen.
He pointed out that the exchange of visits and meetings between officials of the two countries reflects the strong bilateral relations and the keenness of the United States to support the free media as it is the main pillar of democratic societies. |
