RCA provides food aid to 2500 refugees in Yemen

Khaleej Times - 02 August, 2012

400 displaced Eritrean families in the Yemeni coastal city of Hudiada received food packages and meals from the UAE’s Red Crescent Authority (RCA) as part of its efforts to provide emergency assistance to refugees in Yemen to help the country counter an acute food shortage crises.

Around 2500 refugees benefited today from RCA’s effort which was launched recently to help refugees from Palestine, Somalia in Sanaa and Kharaz African refugee camp in Lahaj, south of Yemen.

Also, RCA’s office in Yemen donated a large quantity of medicine, infant formula and medical supplies worth US$ 100000 to El Sabeen Maternity and Child Hospital in the Yemeni capital city.

RCA now sponsors 10000 orphans and special-needs individuals in Yemen. The figure is expected to double in line with directives by the UAE’s leadership to provide humanitarian and relief assistance to Yemen.
