Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Tertisa asserted on Friday that Italy support for the political transition in Yemen and its efforts to combat terrorism.

The Italian Minister made the statement during his meeting with Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi in the Italian capital, Rome.

Tertisa confirmed the Italy would resume cooperation with Yemen in enhancing the Yemeni coastguards' capacities, fighting sea piracy and completing the radars system to protect the Yemeni coast.

He also asserted the Italy's willingness to participate effectively in the Friends of Yemen and the donors conference.

Al-Qirbi and Tertisa reviewed the political developments in the country, the steps undertaken under the Gulf initiative and the priorities of the second stage of the transitional period as well as the ongoing preparations for the the national dialogue conference.
