Donation drive for Yemenis nets over Dhs3m so far

The first day of the campaign which the UAE Red Crescent Authority ( RCA) launched to raise funds to support the brotherly people of Yemen has yielded 3.275 million dirhams.

The campaign which was launched upon the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE will conclude its activities on Sunday.

The campaign, which was launched on Friday from Abu Dhabi TV and radio studios, lasted for three hours that day.

The RCA mobilised its human resources to enhance the success of the campaign in order to show solidarity with the people of Yemen as also to receive the financial and material donations and deliver them to Yemenis all over Yemen.

RCA representatives were deployed in 167 locations across the UAE to collect donations, especially at trading centres, banks, co-operative societies and other government and private facilities.

The RCA has earmarked 39 sites for donation in the city of Abu Dhabi, 29 in Bani Yas, 38 in Al Ain, 10 in Sharjah, 24 in Dubai, 7 in Fujairah, 4 in Ras Al Khaimah, 10 in Ajman, 2 in Umm Al Quwain and 4 sites in the western region.
