US maintains support for Yemen in economic and political sectors, in order to implement the Gulf initiative and UN Security Council resolution 2014, said US Central Command Chief General James Mattis on Monday.

During a meeting with Yemini President Abd al-Rab Mansur al-Hadi, General Mattis stressed on importance of international cooperation to aid Yemen out of difficult conditions and boost growth and development in various fields.

For his part, President al-Hadi affirmed need for international cooperation to support Yemen economically and politically to overcome the crisis, fight terrorism and al-Qaeda.
President al-Hadi condemned the assassination of Major General Salem Ali Qoton, military commander in Yemen's southern region.
