Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad said Thursday creating real development in Yemen required the government to focus on achieving security and stability so investors can implement their investments and bring about economic development.

In a press conference held in Sana'a, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad stressed the need to concentrate on enhancing human resources, inviting the Yemeni officials and specialists to visit Malaysia and get acquainted with the Malaysian experience.

He expressed his willingness to partner with Yemen in the aspects of development and present all counsels in order to improve development in Yemen.

"I arrived in Yemen at the invitation of Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa to work as an economic advisor to the government of Yemen," Dr. Mahathir said, expressing his welcome to the invitation.

He said that he would begin soon its work to get acquainted closely with the economic situation of Yemen to be able to provide appropriate suggestions, confirming the interest of Malaysia in all the developments in Yemen and its readiness to provide the possible assistance to solve problems Yemen faces.

"Yemen has made the first step to overcome the current crisis." Dr. Mahathir said that Yemen is better than other countries in terms of the availability of economic resources.

He said that the crisis in Yemen was not that difficult, indicating to some positive points such as the cooperation among the Yemeni sides and at the society level, which is something "important for this stage."

The Yemeni problem is not insolvable, on contrary, it is easy to be tackled if there is cooperation and solidarity between the various parties, Dr. Mahathir said.
