WB, donors allocate $ 147 mln for BEDP
Yemen News Agency - 31 March, 2012 The World Bank (WB) and some donors have allocated $ 147 million to prop up the second phase of the Basic Education Development Project (BEDP) in Yemen.
This was uttered by Minister of Education Abdul-Razzaq Yahya al-Ashwal after his participation in the WB's regional meeting to mobilize funding the BEDP's second stage held in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
The meeting was fruitful, al-Ashwal said, noting that the BEDP includes three components; bridging the gap between females in the rural areas and those in urban, improving education and its quality and building capacity of the administrative staff of the ministry and its educational institutions.
The minister added that the amount can be increased, especially since there are other partners of the donors who till now did not specify amounts to be provided for supporting the project in order to helping Yemen to make a quantum leap in basic education and developing its quality |
